Portrait of James Hurst, owner of BodyTherapy.Health providing massage therapy

I am based in Sissinghurst and I'm a professional Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapist & Medical Acupuncturist with a passion for helping people. My main focus is to improve your body's soft tissue and correct functional imbalance and movement through fascia release.  Helping you move and feel better.

I founded BodyTherapy.Health to bring you an innovative system of therapeutic techniques developed to address the body as a whole, rapidly eliminating pain, improving mobility, restoring impaired function, reducing recovery time & optimising your performance. All services are tailored to suit everyone, from new Mothers to Musicians and Athletes to Office Workers.

You want to know what actually happens in the room. I start by looking at how you move. I check your posture, your range and where you hold tension. I work out what your body needs that day. The treatment builds from that. I use techniques like deep tissue work, myofascial release, dry needling or cupping when needed. You leave with a clearer sense of what is going on in your body and what will help next.

With a background in professional dance and fitness, I've always been fascinated by the body and how it works.  After many years of working within the charity sector as an operations director, I felt it was time to get back to what I was passionate about - the body.  I was keen to continue giving back so I retrained as a Soft Tissue Therapist.

Recommended tools I sometimes suggest

I am often asked about tools people can use between sessions or when travelling. I am careful about what I suggest and do not recommend equipment as a replacement for assessment or hands on treatment. For some people, a massage gun can be useful as part of general maintenance.

I suggest the TEND massage gun for people who sit at a desk, train regularly, or want support with muscle tightness between appointments. It can be helpful for larger muscle groups such as calves, glutes, hamstrings, and upper back. I do not recommend using it on acute injuries, areas of unexplained pain, nerve related symptoms, or if pain is worsening.

If you choose to buy a TEND massage gun, you can use my discount. I receive a small commission if you purchase through this link. This does not affect my clinical judgement and I will always prioritise what is appropriate for you.

If pain is persistent or unclear, it is important to get assessed rather than relying on equipment.
